Personal Philosophy: I have always strived to be a well rounded individual who is prepared for any situation. This was my inspiration when I chose to study both computer science and dramatic arts in college. I enjoy exercising and testing my skills with a wide variety of challenges. Working and studying as both an artist and an engineer has exposed me to a wide range of collaborative settings. I have learned the distinct pros and cons when working as an independent freelancer or part of a tight-knit collaborative group. In all of my experiences one truth has been more clear to me than any other. How much I enjoy the task at hand is directly related to the quality of people I am working with. With this truth in mind, I strive to apply my skills and talents in whatever way necessary to work with people who are truly excellent at what they do. Which makes it difficult for me to resist any opportunity to work with outstanding people.
Right Now: I am excited to be a new resident of New York City and working remotely as a freelance programmer contracted primarily by Veromodo Inc. I work mostly in Java, and also tinker with web based applications in PHP. My primary focus is at Veromodo Inc. because I enjoy the challenge of developing a compiler, but more importantly my direct boss is Laurent Michel the finest programmer I have ever known. Every week I am faced with challenges that strain my ability to design software, luckily Dr. Michel always has an elegant and flexible solution to any design challenge. I spend much of my free time learning new programming languages, building web applications, and developing Cameo, my free lighting software.
Near Future: My current engagement with Veromodo Inc. will last approximately one year. Although I do not have any precise plans I am contemplating several ideas.
Dreams and Aspirations: I find the model and philosophy of start up companies very appealing. The setting and challenges seem to meld with what I enjoy most about my theatrical and software development experiences. In the long term I would like to own or be part of a small software company, developing products for the entertainment industry. I dream of working exclusively with people who are truly excellent at what they do, unencumbered by selfish desires; although my rational mind finds this nearly impossible. All of these aspirations emanate from a desire to create things that will greatly influence and improve peoples lives.
